The reason for this web site is to do with my efforts to rebuild my life after recent confrontations with political extremists which had a disasterous affect on me,both financially and emotionally.Firstly,i would like to apologize for my somewhat rambling style,i am not a professional writer,so please bear with me.I will also say that i'm the worlds greatest coward and i don't like being in this situation.But having said that,much worse things have happened to other peace campaigners in other parts of the world.Nothing physical has been done to me.But since 1993 i have had to suffer a sporadic campaign of harrassment,involving vandalism to my car[which is my living]and sometimes being followed in the street.Before anyone says why don't i go to the police,that is not an option.For reasons that i won't go into,i can't tell you who i'm in trouble with or why i can't go to the police.I can only tell you about the ideas that got me into trouble in the first place. THERE IS A BATTLE OF IDEAS GOING ON IN THE WORLD TODAY,IF YOU WANT A BETTER FUTURE THEN DON'T BE A BYSTANDER,TAKE PART.For the best part of 20 years i have conducted a lone campaign against religious and political bigotry.This involved sending anonymous letters and making phone calls[also anonymous]to extremist groups across the political spectrum.It's a long story,but one particular group found out my identity and have been making my life a misery ever since.I am a pacifist and i suppose people like me are a threat to groups like that.They all want to stop war as long as THEIR side wins.We think we are living in the modern age,but the frightening thing is there are still a lot of people fighting the battles of the middle ages.Well i reckon it's time we left all this backward thinking behind us.ONE OF THE MAIN OBSTACLES IN THE STRUGGLE FOR A BETTER WORLD IS RELIGIOUS EXTREMISM.I've known a lot of religious people and while most of them are relatively reasonable,it's the extremists that cause much of the trouble.If you take a close look at any religion,you won't have to wait very long before you spot the extremists.They're the ones telling poor people not to protest too much about the terrible conditions they have to put up with so as to gain favour with god and he will reward them in heaven.Even many of the "mainstream"politicians are guilty of peddling this religious con trick,Tony Blair for instance.Does anybody seriously believe that Blair is a GENUINE christian?[Let's not forget that christianity backs up every atrocity that mankind ever commited,from slavery to child abuse and even genocide,depending on which part of the bible you read]Blair presides over a system that permits the greedy to grab more than their fair share of the nations wealth,while thousands of elderly people die of hypothermia every winter because they can't afford to buy fuel to heat their homes.And what about Iraq?The despotic leader of that country,saddam hussein,is as powerful as ever and the sanctions that Blair is helping to impose so as to punish saddam are really punishing the innocent Iraqi people,especially the children[maybe Blair is a christian after all]THE OPPRESSED ARE SOMETIMES OPPRESSORS.I've always thought that some of the worst oppressors are the oppressed themselves.If you could look behind the front doors of any working class street,what might you see?A man beating his wife/ girlfriend senseless maybe,or some racist scumbag who plasters his walls with nazi propaganda.Here in britain we have an election coming up this year and you can bet your life Blair will not utter ONE word of criticism against the more unpleasant members of our society.He will not say"if you are a racist,wife beater,child molestor or illegal sweatshop manager,please don't vote for me,i don't want your vote".No,he will come on to their television sets and say"if you vote for me,i'll give you a penny off your taxes and i'll even come round to your house and lick your arse if you agree to vote for me".I think we need to get away from all this working class hero crap.I've met rich people who live modestly and try to help others with their money and i've met poor people who wouldn't think twice about knocking an old lady on the head for her pension money.In the next segment,i will expand on these and other ideas.I hope nobody finds the things i say offensive,if so,i'm sorry.But i do believe in free speech,that's why i've included a message board.Thank you for reading this far and please stay with me,if you are interested in new ideas i promise i won't bore you.

NEW POLITICAL PERSPECTIVES
It seems to me that we need a new political philosophy which recognizes human frailty but which which is quick to capitalize on the spring of positive energy that wells up within each of us,our intelligence,our capacity to use logic and reason to solve problems,our ability to explore our surroundings and find out what makes our planet/solar system/universe tick.These are the things that set us apart from all the other creatures on the planet.But at the same time we must acknowledge that it is we who are destroying this planet,not the relatively harmless little animals we sometimes refer to as pests[e.g.foxes,rabbits,mice,etc.]if foxes were better able to defend themselves,would those loonies in silly red coats be so eager to hound them so sadistically to a miserable death?It is a sad fact,but intelligence brings with it a kind of arrogance which does us no credit.We think we are so essential and necessary to the future of this planet,but the reality is that the planet could well do without us and our wars,pollution,destruction of resources and so on.I've always believed if we look after the planet then the planet will look after us.I believe passionately in free enterprise,but not in this"dog eat dog,greed is good,sell your mother"kind of capitalism which is creeping across the world like a virus.How is it that a petty,small minded,money worshipping nationalist like margeret thatcher managed to gain such a hypnotic hold over this country for so long?She was only ever interested in confrontation as a way of solving problems,but i believe if you have a good argument and are articulate,you should be able to persuade your opponent so that he/she is no longer your opponent.The level of esteem to which Thatcher is held by people throughout the country is out of all proportion to the amount of good she did.The reason she was so politically succesful was because she appealed to some of our basest instincts[chauvanism,greed,bigotry,xenophobia,etc.]I always thought thatcher was out of place in late 20th century britain.She was a great believer in freedom and democracy as long as things were going her way,but as soon as people had the audacity to disagree with her the old authoritarian tendencies began to show.She had the right stuff to be queen in mediaeval times,when dissenters were hung,drawn and quatered.Thatcher showed herself to be ignorant and stupid on just about every issue she dealt with,but no more so than on the environment.Look at the way she dealt with the problem of CFCs,the pollutant ingredient of some spray cans,partly responsible for damaging the ozone layer.She completely abdicated governmental responsibilty and left it up to consumers to demand non CFC products.So as far as thatcher was concerned,saving the planet was dependant on the passing whims of consumers.Such a strong faith in the power of capitalism to solve all our problems defies logic.I think the only value or purpose these politicians have left is the entertainment they give us,it's great fun to see them all stabbing each other in the back,but then again,you can get the same thing from a punch and judy show and it will cost you nothing.There are an awful lot of problems that could be worked out if ordinary people got together and by passed the political system.Obiously there are a few good eggs in parliament doing their best,but i think too many M.P.s see it as a gravy train rather than a vocation.And another thing which gets me hot under the collar is the oath of allegiance.When an individual takes his/her seat in the commons it means that person has been democratically elected[albeit to a corrupt system,but it's the best we've got at the moment]Why then should that individual have to swear allegiance to a monarch many M.P.s are no longer loyal to?Why do we need this privileged,pampered and frankly strange family anyway?What useful function do they perform?[don't forget i said USEFUL FUNCTION].They must be laughing all the way to the bank when they think of all the tax paying mugs,some of whom suffer the most appalling poverty,gladly allowing their hard earned cash to go into the bank accounts of that crowd of parasites so they can live in luxury.I have heard some pretty weak reasons for keeping the monarchy,but one of the weakest and most often repeated is the"glamour"factor.The monarchists say that if we replace the monarchy with an elected head of state,all we will get is some clapped out politician and consequently,britain will become dull and boring.Well the U.S.has an elected president and what ever else we might say about bill clinton,i don't think anyone would accuse him of being clapped out and america is far from being dull and boring.And anyway the queen is just as human as a"clapped out"politician.She eats,she sleeps,i bet some monarchists will be shocked to learn that the queen even goes to the toilet!!!!They probably think she opens up a little door in her tummy and it comes out all wrapped up in a nice box with a ribbon on top.

There are an awful lot of people causing trouble in the world today and they are of all political persuasions,all religions and all colours,this is my message to them.
If i had my finger on a button which,if pushed,would blow up the world,how would all you warmongers react?Would you beg and plead with me not to push the button?Would you weep at the very thought of our wonderful planet being annihilated?Of course you would.Why then,are you all so eager to continue fighting your wars which are such a threat to the welfare of our world?Why is it that all you care about is your own little patch of the planet?What do think would happen if the rest of the planet is destroyed?Do you really think there is some god up there who is coming to rescue us if we screw things up?He doesn't have a good record of coming to help us does he?So why do you have this faith that he cares about us?There are a million other questions i could ask.Sometimes i despair of the human race,but there are other times when i feel tremendously optimistic and i think i will overcome my own problems and then i will hold out my arms and give humanity a big hug.But there are some human beings i can think of who are extremely hard to talk to,let alone get on with.A few years ago i was in california and i was listening to the talk radio and i heard a white man going on about the mexicans and how they shouldn't be allowed to come north of the border.That is a very arrogant attitude when you think about it.After all,if the mexicans had managed to come a bit further north in their war with the states,then california[or some of it]would now be part of mexico.Anyway,if you were to be mischeivous about it,you could say that most north and south americans are foreigners and that the only people who have a genuine right to be there are the NATIVE americans,but i wouldn't put that forward as a serious point because every one of the many peoples of this earth have a history of migration and invasion of other nations and territories.Let's face it,most of us still think in tribal terms.It's very childish,but we all like to be in a gang and we all like to think that the gang we're in is bigger than all the other gangs.That"GANG"can be your country,religion,political party,social group or whatever.What makes me mad is all this"finger pointing".We have all heard it before,one race or culture points at another and says"look what your people did to my people".But the way i look at it,every"tribe"has skeletons in the cupboard.For instance,if you look at the situation in Northern Ireland,you can see the same old tribalism that you see in so many conflict situations in the world today.One"tribe"is loyal to britain and the other to ireland.Irish republicans have always rightly criticized Britain for its bloody history of invading other countries and so on,but up to now, nobody ever thought about the culpability of the IRISH in that same history.It is an uncomfortable truth for many irish people,but whenever the british army was looking for recruits,they never had a shortage of volunteers from the emerald isle.So this image of "poor,innocent,little ireland"is totally false,the irish are just human beings like everyone else.And this down trodden image that some irish republicans have of their country is one of the major contributory factors that keeps the conflict going[Not to mention loyalist intransigence and bigotry,added to british apathy,stupidity and brutality]In the past i have heard some irish republicans refer to the British flag as THE BUTCHERS APRON.Well,apart from the british themselves,no one would know more about the BUTCHERS APRON than the irish,THEY WORE IT OFTEN ENOUGH.As i say,i hate all this finger pointing.Whatever ideology you choose to align yourself with,whatever religion,nationality,culture,class or social group you subscribe to,don't get too many romantic ideas about your history or culture,because the people you call your heroes are[or were]just fallible human beings.If you put your heroes up on pedestals as icons to be worshipped,sooner or later the imperfection of their humanity will burst your bubble and depression will be the result.It seems to me that every race has its hatemongers.For instance,you often hear some black people talk about the terrible things white people did in africa,but what they don't want to talk about are the terrible things some BLACK people did in africa.Black african people were being oppressed long before the white man set foot on the continent,and who was doing the oppressing?OTHER BLACK PEOPLE.Black people are human like the rest of us and they are prone to the same feelings of prejudice and intolerance as white people,yellow people etc.
